What Your Child Learns

Kids BJJ: Vital Mavericks

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is grappling. Kids learn to hold a position, escape from underneath and control a partner, with no punches or kicks. Classes are built around games, so they pick up real skills while they play.

Progress is marked with stripes on their white belt. Coaches award stripes for skill, behaviour and what they know. Competing is never required.

Kids MMA

Kids MMA mixes pad work for punches and kicks with wrestling and ground work. Sparring is optional. Kids only spar if they want to, and always under close supervision from several coaches. The first kids MMA class is on Thursday 12 November.

Class Times

  • Monday: Kids BJJ, 6pm to 7pm

  • Wednesday: Kids BJJ, 6pm to 6:45pm

  • Thursday: Kids MMA, 5pm to 6pm (from 12 November)

Kids BJJ is coached by our head coach James O'Hanlon, a BJJ black belt, with Mike Khalsa and our assistant coaches. Kids MMA is coached by Mike.
